There is an answer. Louisiana has laws against homicide and feticide. There have been cases where someone killed a pregnant woman and was convicted of both homicide and feticide.

How far along in pregnancy does a woman have to be for someone else to get charged with a feticide?
If a woman has a miscarriage, why isn’t there a funeral?
