Not sure what you mean by that; we’ve been working on this for years.

I mean your governor had to be dragged along while Desantis and the state legislature in FL provided conservatives an example for how to push back against the madness of Covid and the political landscape post 1/6.

My statement sounded like a slam, but it’s more of a thanks for getting in the game.

Texas is now lighting the way to what the path to a real fix would look like because we can’t go on this way as a nation without half the nation being subjugated or outright violence occurring.

TX or CA leaving will lead to a larger exodus from the Union, but absent a return to real federalism I can’t see another path to a positive and stable continent.

The red states would be terrorized by an unchecked blue federal government and would also have to leave if TX decides to.

Same is true for the blue states if CA leaves.

It’s a hard truth, but one people are going to have to face at some point.

You can’t compare Abbott to DeSantis.

I don’t know Florida’s structure, in terms of authority granted to elected officials; but in Texas, Governor doesn’t call the shots.

When the North sent folks to Texas to govern as governors, Texans felt these king-like people came down and ran roughshod. So when Texans wrote the Texas Constitution, they vested in the people far more power than they did in the role of Governor.

Two positions—Speaker of the Texas House and Lieutenant Governor—are arguably more important than Governor of Texas.

Compared to other states, Texas has a fairly weak executive branch. SotH and Lt. Gov. wield powers unavailable and more influential than TX governor … like the flow of legislation and the appointments of House and Senate members to legislative committees.

Don’t make the mistake of anointing Abbott with more power than he actually has.
