How many of you truly believe that Sean Payton

has there ever been a "right coach to win the Super Bowl"? I'm not so sure.


I think he is the right coach for this team and this organization. I think everyone is freaking out over this season...i mean, frick...we're 3-4. It's not like we're 0-7. The guy is a creative offensive mind, creates an exciting brand of football, and seems to be well-liked and respected by his peers.

This is his FIRST HEAD COACHING JOB and he has a .500 or above .500 record as the coach through 2 + seasons as the coach of the New Orleans Saints. DO you know how rare that is? This is still the New Orleans Saints we are talking about and i personally like the way Sean Payton has this organization headed. Give the man time.

i think the extenion was premature, i dont think gary gibbs can be our d cordinater and us win a sb.

well have to see how the year plays out.

we will always have a good offense under sean payton...and i like a lot of our defensive personnel...we just need to get a d coordinator in here who knows what he's doing and can really develop an identity for this defense. under gibbs, i feel like our defense has no swagger to it or doesn't really have an identity...they don't do anything exceptionally well while all too often giving up the big play. we need someone to come in who can really make opposing offenses have to work for their points instead of just throwing the ball deep and scoring. it's very frustrating.

I think the right question is what has Sean Payton brought to the table that others did not? I like Payton and want him to stay, but Haslett did just as much with Brooks at QB and teams that, IMO, had far inferior talent. I expected more in Payton's first 3 years. Honestly, I did.

Well I think a lot has to do with the NFL nowadays compared to when Haslett took over...yes, the NFL has greatly improved over the last 4 years. I think the parity is better now than it was then. And i'm not making excuses for Payton-I was a Haslett guy myself. But, I think he gives us a better chance to win each week than Haslett did. There are a lot of similarities between the two teams-especially regarding how consistent (or inconsistent) they play.

Sean Payton has made some question personnel moves and more than a few blunders at the ends of games...he does have a problem managing the clock but he's also very innovative. He drafts well and he does a good job assessing team needs and he attempts to fix them.

The only really big flaw I see in him is the fact that he is loyal to "his guys." We've seen it repeatedly with Mark Simoneau, Scott Shanle, Jason David, etc. The list goes on and on. He seems to have a ego problem and doesn't make decisions based on the good of the team yet on if it makes him look bad. Gibbs needs to go and he needs to be able to part ways with him, even though they are buddies and both came over from Dallas.


At least he's trying...he let one of his guys go in Terrance Copper and hopefully that builds into more of the same.


He seems to be a smart enough guy and has his head on his shoulders, there are just a few things in needs to overcome in order for him to become one of the better coaches in the league. His play calling is right there, just not some of the other aspects that go into being a head coach. It's only his 3rd season (which really isn't that long even considering the head coaching carousel that is the NFL) so I still say give him this season and the next to try and prove his worth.

I believed after 06 and drank the give him a pass kool aid last year. Ive been very disappointed with some of his decisions, not just play calling or flying to London without a punter.

He's not going anywhere anytime soon so I still hope but I think it's doubtful it happens with him at the helm

In 2006, Payton led us to the best season in saints history. In 2007, we finished 7-9 after starting 0-4 and having major injury problems. This season, we are 3-4. 3 of the 4 losses were by a combined 10 points and injuries are a huge issue once again (injury is part of the game, but u gotta admit, we are gettin it worse than most).

The payton hating is way too premature. Jesus Christ. let the season play out. This is the New Orleans Saints. 40 years of shite. 10-6, 7-9, and ?? is not bad and definitely not fire worthy
