Property tax on a 775k house in EBR is about $3500 annually after taking homestead exemption. Same value home in Texas that'll be about $13,000. So it's about a wash.

The difference is, Texas gets good roads, bridges and schools. What does Louisiana get?

You've never been to Texas have you? Our infrastructure is crap...well except for the nice toll roads

Absolutely nothing. I pay a premium in property taxes but get a great public school, community, and infrastructure in Texas. I wish I could strangle every Louisiana politician by the neck as well as the people who continue to live in that cesspool. .
