I have an old Stihl curved shaft and I just order a cheap-O knock-off carb off Amazon every 3 years or so and switch it out. $20 and 10 minutes or so.
Easy Peezy.
I also use the thinnest diameter string available: it feeds better and cuts better IMO.

Carbs are metal, all you have to do is remove, clean, replace...if it sits with ethanol gas
