AR15 or AK47 ?
2.23/5.56 Nato... or the 7.65x39mm ?
AK 47-
best price might be about $700, maybe more. Case of 7.62x39 right now, $350
Total, $1100 with a couple mags
AR 15-
PSA Freedom lower- $125
BCA 16" upper in 5.56 with BCG- $225
BCA 16" upper in 7.62x39 with BCG- $225
Case of 223, $350
Case of 7.62x39, $350
Figure about $1370, $1400 to include dedicated mags and sights.
So, about 10% extra will get you 2 functional calibers instead of one, 2x the total ammo, and you have the ability to mount scopes, red dots, etc.
I'm old enough to remember when AKs were cheap, and the appeal then was that they were cheaper to run than ARs. That's no longer the case.

I consider .223 and 5.56 one in the same really... So the AR would get the nod... But the 7.65 is a little more meat.
Has the AR15 platform actually been in combat? The AK47 has with the sks before it... and fires the same round...
