Interesting stat about Charles Scott and 2006

In 2006, Jacob Hester led LSU with 94 carries through 13 games.
In 2008, Charles Scott leads LSU with 83 carries through 5 games.
Talk about getting rid of running back by committee, right?
If Scott gets 12 more carries against South Carolina -- not exactly a tall order -- then he'll have more carries through half the season than anyone in 2006 had throughout the whole season.
I'm kinda glad to see someone take control -- another stat from 2006, Dewayne Bowe had more than twice as many receiving yards that year than anyone had rushing yards. Thank goodness that we have a workhorse back this year -- and for those clamoring about the RBs needing a lot more carries, be glad we at least have an awesome standout and several quality runners that have his back.

In 2006 we didnt have a guy good enough to get 15 carries a game. Hester wasnt in 2007 form, Keiland was young, and Alley and Vincent just sucked. We were forced to spread the balls among our RBs.

Last week poo poo's your inference in a big way. Scott was not given the chance to be the man, and it pissed me off

Good stat, but what does this really mean...we do not have a QB that we can have a definitive passing game. Who was the quarterbacks back then, betcha you can name them and their accomplishments.

LSUSportsR4Me: Sorry dude, I keep seeing it spelled with an 'e.' I can never keep that part of his name straight. @_@
The claim that Jarrett Lee is the reason for this is completely wrong. In 2005 there were 360 pass attempts on 809 total offensive plays -- a 41.4% average with redshirt sophomore JaMarcus Russell. In 2007, with redshirt senior Matt Flynn, there was again a 41.9% average. In 2008, 48.1% of the offensive plays so far have been passes. For comparison, 45.0% of the plays in 2006 were passes.
So basically, LSU has thrown the ball MORE with redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee than with #1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell at QB and national champion QB Matt Flynn. Clearly, that argument makes no sense.
