Yes...I've had the honor to have served with some of the bravest men you will ever find. Between my time in Vietnam and my time in state and federal law enforcement, I have observed and experienced some the most perilous and heroic acts that one could ever imagine.
OP is only projecting his own thoughts and feelings looking for others like him that would hug the bottom of a foxhole and validate his decisions rather than rescue a fallen teammate.
