Graduating high school is a milestone for a person and their family. It marks the end of childhood and often times the end of the child living at home.
As a high school teacher I have worked at over twenty years worth of graduations. But when my daughter graduated I cried. Then three months later when we moved her into her dorm room on the campus of UGA I cried again.
And I’m not really the crying type.
It is fun to watch your kids become adults and I’m proud of what they have turned into but a part of me is sad they don’t live under my roof any more.
High school graduation is the event signifying this change that is sweet for the kids and bittersweet for their parents.
