Thrive Academy on Brightside is like this. The kids go home on Friday and come back Sunday evening. Sleep there Sunday-Thursday. They come from various parts of the area - not just BR.
I don't recall their rating/test scores being all that great, but I believe they have a lot of kids in AP classes and whatnot. It's really not a bad idea, IMO.
