Dave Rubin (gay, conservative, Jewish dude) and rob smith (gay, conservative, black dude) had an interesting conversation about this. They both implied what you were saying, and made it seem like lumping all the weird fetishes with run of the mill homosexuality is a disservice to gay people. Dave basically said “sure, I like dudes, but I have no interest in cutting off my dick or dressing like a woman, I dunno what that’s about”.

Rob smith took it one step further and said the whole trans movement is actually an anti gay movement. His reasoning is that if you are gay, they are teaching you that you must also be in the wrong body and thus should explore being a tranny.
