it's not that they don't even understand economics. there is a lack of understanding of production, energy storing, consumption, etc.

for the most part, how we've done things for the last 50 years are so are the most efficient and cost effective way to do things. not always. and it's not perfect. milk from a cow, like it or not, is the most effective way to get milk to the masses. milk from a plant is not, whether it's better for you or the environment.

coal, nuclear, natural gas are better and more capable ways of producing and storing energy than solar or wind and making it readily available and transported to the masses.

no car battery in production today can match the distance that a tank of gasoline can get you in similar vehicles.

i'm not saying that being green or going plant based is BAD. it's just that you're asking society to accept more expensive and less efficient method despite the fact that less expensive and more efficient methods exist.
