What makes you think it will hit Facebook and google?

Since you asked, here is my reasoning...

Obviously Elon or some other billionaire is not going to change their direction with a buyout.

However, Twitter, the smallest of the majors, has a disproportionate influence on the social fabric. It is used and quoted considerably more often in politics, business, government and entertainment industries and is the defacto communication standard today.

In other words... Google and Facebook will have to compete with Twitter; and that dam has been breached.

If the 'Covid-misinformation' ban is removed, other voices and viewpoints will flock to Twitter to tell their stories. Remember those MD's who were banned from YouTube and Facebook?

And if Elon does free-up speech (all but removing moderation review panels), the platform will grow from the echo chamber it currently is. Someone started a thread yesterday [joking or not] - stating that Elon would have Twitter be used for national elections... I wouldn't discount it. Twitter has the potential to become so important to society, that it can't be allowed to fail, at any cost.

Google and Facebook will alter their policies, not officially at first (because they want to save face, test the waters, avoid backlash, etc.) but eventually they will. The same 'ban' mentioned above will be dropped quitely, without fanfare. Facebook moderation panels will be removed or replaced by algorithyms or AI, they will say. But it won't matter, the blatent liberal bias may someday just disappear.

This will be a great day for society in general, though many LGBTQRSTUVWXY'z will frown and talk about the good old days, when they could get their feeling's infringed upon... and have someone banned from their 'preferred' platform.
