I hear this creepy stuff all the time in church. It is contrary to what the Bible teaches about children. My kids belong to me. Not the church. Not anyone else. You can argue God gave them to me, but they are mine to do with as I please, though I do answer to God for how I teach them.
I didn't say children belong to "the church". I said they belong to God. The church and the parents have different spheres of authority.

They belong to me. The Bible is clear on that. Most of the people saying "your children belong to God" really mean the church and anyone attempting to weaken parental authority does not have your children's best interests in mind.
