Being in a situation where all you really need is an aluminum flat is a wonderful position to be in. A bunch of years back I bought a Lakesport 16’ aluminum center console with a 40 hp Yamaha and a trolling motor. I used the crap out of that thing. I mostly fished reds around the rigolets, Lake Borgne, and Bay St. Louis. I could get in ponds so shallow I’d never see another boat out there, or at times I’d make a 7mile run through the lake to hit some spots with no problem. It cost me around $9k with a trailer just under 20 yrs. ago. LOVED that boat. All the gauges except the tachometer and just about everything electronic went out in the first couple years, but everything I needed to keep running worked just fine. Boats are so crazy expensive nowadays, being in a position where a nice little aluminum boat meets your needs is perfection.

Where did you go? If I could get away with a bost like that I absolutely would.

Seems like everyone says you need a 20' or bigger bay boat.
