The caliber of players he’ll be able to get at LSU are far higher, but he beat the heck out of Belmont twice this year with much less talent than LSU. Same margin of victory, and Belmont went to the NIT. Murray State had one bad loss to East Tenn in their 4th game of the season, 1 expected loss by 13 points to Auburn, and a loss to a hot St. Peter’s team that may not be bad depending on how St Peter’s does in their next game. The 31-3 record is impressive. Undefeated in conference is impressive. That’s only the 2nd time in Murray State history. Will Wade’s best record at VCU was 26-9, and several other VCU coaches have done better. The other 4 recent VCU coaches (Rhoades, Smart and Grant) have all had a at least one better season. Prohm proves that there are no guarantees, but MM seems like a good bet.
