Would also add: It was safe for elementary school kids to play outside all day unsupervised. City parks weren't supervised. Little League baseball fields could be played on all day if games, or practices weren't scheduled. There were lots of places to play sanlot baseball and football. People let kids play in fields/vacant lots, and we did, but no one sued the property owner if someone got hurt playing baseball, or football.
