Except that Brennan is no Burrow.
The coaching staff has seen the film on both guys. They are experts on evaluating talent. If they felt we needed another QB in the room that says as much about Brennan as it does about Daniels. So, no they didn’t promise Daniels he could start but they wouldn’t bring him here if they didn’t think he had the potential to start. Wouldn’t make sense to either party otherwise.

You are correct. They brought him here in hopes to start next year. If he somehow ended up with the job this year that's icing on the cake. Nuss will not be on the roster next season so they needed someone who could be a starter once Brennan is out. Who knows maybe Daniels will finally make that developmental jump in college he was projected to do. Daniels is your filler until Howard is ready. Nuss is odd man out and probably will transfer.
