There is plenty of reason to treat information coming out of a war zone with high skepticism *before* even entertaining how its handlers may want it to be percieved-- but there is also a counter point wherein eventually, denial of everything as unreal becomes untenable.

Safe things to say about the situation in the Ukraine-- its a confused mess, with everyone pursuing their own interests, no saints on any side, and its going to be unclear for a long time, exactly what has happened. What can be discerned is that the Russians haven't achieved the victory they had hoped for, in the time frame they had hoped for-- and to get much beyond those things is to start down a road of speculation or 'This is fake!' vs'This is not fake' crap.
