Approximately 15 - 20 years ago, a contractor named Angelo Iafrate did a big job on widening the I10 - I12 split in Baton Rouge. For every day he managed to cut off the projected time budget, Mr. Iafrate earned a bonus. If I'm remembering correctly, that bonus capped at $1 million, but regardless of the cap, he earned the full amount.

While it would be unusual, finishing early can be done, and has been done, in Louisiana. Let's hope a contractor as motivated as Mr. Iafrate gets this job whenever it is advertised and let out for bid.

That was 25-30 years ago BTW

We are going through all of this. They may as well widen it to 10 lanes instead of just 8.
