Joe Biden says “we already have a ****** mayor we don’t need anymore ****** big shots.”
And every rap artist.
Context doesn’t matter, obviously.
And I was listening to a piece from an old man alive during the civil war period.
The whole “n-word” thing, by my ken, simply comes from a change in the pronunciation of negro. The oh is dropped in some accents. I’ll try to find it
Here it is. Listen to how he pronounces words, especially negro.
My theory is that there was just a lingual shift, and people hearing it adopted a new word, which by the by became a slur.

Wallace would talk about "negroes" but in his Southern accent, the word came out as "n***a". But the media invariably would report that he had said "n****r".
