As a 54 year old public school teacher who teaches 14-15 year old kids, I have had multiple students ask me to record TikTok dances with them since the rise of TikTok over the past few years.
I have let them teach me moves and let them laugh at me as I attempt them myself, but I have never let them record me doing it. They laugh, high five, and really get a kick out of it. They love seeing teachers step out of their comfort zone and embrace a bit of what they find cool and entertaining.
So, take some guys who are only three years older getting a D-5 coach to do the same thing AND record the dances where he dances badly. What message is he sending?
The message is that he is real and he does not attempt to hide it.
Trust me. Kids eat that up nowadays.
Coach O's message was always about him. BK's message seems to be all about the students: from graduation rates and character all the way to silly TikTok dances.
I believe his dance moves will age much better than "sissy blue shirt" comments.
