In an experiment to combat racial economic inequality

Pointless experiment as proof of concept, because it's actually creating inequality amongst the poor, unless you give it to everyone in a particular location. And if done that way (as with covid stimulus payments), it just raises the floor for the prices at the low end of any given market.

There's a reason that apartment complexes won't advertise rents lower than the local amount that Section 8 offers.

Anyone who's done the classroom experiment where you give the kids money and create an artificial market, knows that starting with equal amounts of money across the board just triggers bidding wars and hyperinflation.

Repeating with slight inequality of starting cash across the board allows efficient allocation of resources for everyone without having to battle to differentiate themselves among "equals".

Whether that's considered fair or not, libs should love it for being best overall for the group and buyers market, despite it resulting in "inequality" and some individuals on the losing end of what they can afford.

But they'll hand out some cash and claim some improvement in qol, and try to use that to justify UBI.

Good point. If I'm working the fry machine at McDonald's making about $1000 a month, you really think I'm gonna be content with that knowing Shawanda from down the street is getting basically the same amount just sitting on her arse?
