Fair enough. I’m not a neurologist; I’m surprised that the concept of a “career ending” concussion existed in 2004 (at least as much as it would be noted in a video game licensed by the NFL - it was probably known in neurology circles, though).

I was thinking that at that point the sports establishment was still acting like a concussion was something you could just shake off.

1 concussion, sure

If guys had had a lot, it could be career ending. Troy Aikman who sits in Madden’s seat retired after his 10th concussion in 2000.
