I work for a soul crushing multinational. They give me a month a year and when I take it, I am constantly called by clients to deal with shite. I was on a Christmas Day conference call this year. It is looking like I will be laboring well into the evening on NYE, even though my employer is “closed”

Time to stand up for yourself. Either 1. Take a hard line you are not working on holidays or 2. Finding a new job

Is what it is, just the nature of the beast in my world. I’m compensated more fairly to take the body blows and have unlimited freedom day to day. I can work from anywhere with internet.

Just unrealistic for me to ever have an expectation of unplugging for a week or more. In the last 5 years, my longest run of total job avoidance was about 96 hours and that’s because it was timed in a dead period.
