I started using a saddle this year. I hunt public land only. Have a Cruzr XC and run 4 beast stick minis with a 1 step fixed amsteel aider on each. Added the Tethrd Versalinks and have a Tethrd predator platform. I haven’t weighed the whole set up but toting it 2 miles in is not bad at all.
I can be at 22’ with that setup in less than 10 minutes for the most part.
I absolutely love it. A 3-4 hour sit is very comfortable as long as you have knee pads or a pad for your knees. What I like most about it is the way it’s changed how I hunt. Scouting your way into an area, slowly, and then picking out a tree to hunt is much easier with the saddle than having a stand on your back
It’s probably not for everyone. But for me, I’ll probably never go back to a climber or lock on
