This is a little misleading as denbrock was still the play caller and left when they were taking his play calling away.

During the 2002 NFL season, Jim Fassel, head coach of the NY Giants stripped his offensive coordinator of his play calling duties. That offensive coordinator eventually bounced back and went on to have a pretty successful career calling plays in the NFL. His name is Sean Payton.

I’m not against denbrock at all - just was pointing out he was still the play caller in 15-16 and there were reports that he wouldn’t continue if he stayed with ND. Most stories about his departure also note that he was their head recruiter which is definitely a plus.
