Any nuanced local sees the false narrative that the national media is choosing to perpetuate.
They think Kelly was inclined to speak with an accent because us ignorant southerners would be more willing to accept "one of us". Because that is what we know and are comfortable with, and we are intimidated by intelligent northerners coming and and speaking over our heads

This - most Louisiana people south of Alexandria are not sporting a "southern/country accent". Such articles perpetuated by the outside media are simply lazy and uninformed.
