it is always interesting to me how far in advance things truly happen regarding coaching hires.

while i have a hard time believing that multi-millions dollar deals happen in 2 days, sometimes you have to have plans b/c in place...just in case.

Jaime Howard said on Moscona a few days ago the Kelly said that he had spoken to Woodward after their USC game. Obviously, we have no clue what was talked about in that conversation, but the process had started that long ago. whether Kelly was plan a/b/c....i really do not care.

he will correct the locker room, which is the biggest task in front whomever the hire was going to be.

Big time ADs must have "feelers" out at all times in this business. Crazy.

College Football is a small world. 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon everywhere. More like 3 degrees.

BK will need a young staff to help with recruiting. I think more coaches stay on than previously planned, which I’m ok with..

I think the deal was done in principal with his agent as a back up when Jimbo didn’t take the job, and the final push happened Saturday evening.

O was fired on 10/17. That game was on 10/23. Jamie said, "(Kelly) told me while we were there that Scott had approached him and he didn't think he was interested in it". Kelly was still recruiting for ND so he would have to say that. I doubt any deal was done that early either way, but this shows that Kelly was a top target from the beginning considering that SW approached CBK within days.
