English Ivy on Brick...pros and cons?

Have an English Tudor style house and thinking about growing English ivy on parts of a brick wall in front. Pros and Cons?

The biggest con is the work required when you want to remove it probably.

Main issues are insects will use it as a home, and some ivy can be difficult to remove down the line if you decide to get rid of it. We bought a home with ivy on a wall and it was a pain to remove.
