SEC Doubleheader trip

That was an exhausting trip, but we pulled it off! Left Davis Wade mid-4th quarter after Nussmeier's first 3-and-out. Hustled to the car and hit the road immediately. Was able to avoid getting entangled in any traffic. We did stop twice (bathroom break and to pick up some extra ice for the Ga. Tech crew), but by the time we got to the parking spot, we had maybe 30~45 minutes to tailgate before it was time to walk to the stadium. Got into Vaught stadium before kickoff, but not to our seats in time.
If you didn't watch the game: Ga. Tech is a terrible team, but kept it interesting until the 4th quarter. Tech mounted a great comeback late in the 3rd - long drive for a TD, then a stop, then another long drive, only to stall at that point. I'm not saying OM was ever in serious danger of losing, but it wasn't completely "over" until mid-4th quarter. The LSU offense we saw in Starkville would score on every drive against the OM defense that Ga. Tech saw.
After a brief meetup with some OM friends, we headed to the car for the long drive back to Jackson. Was in bed before the end of the Colorado 2nd OT.
My assessment is: it is not possible to make two SEC kickoffs outside of Starkville-Oxford, or Starkville-Tuscaloosa. Any other stadium, post-game traffic would have wiped out the tailgating time in Oxford, and but for that, we were in perpetual motion.

Since Davis Wade emptied out early we stayed to the end. We hit some BBQ in Pontotoc (shout out to Baps bbq). Got weird confused looks the whole way. Rolled into the grove (dust bowl) we only got a few negative comments. There was plenty of whispering under their breath. Got a very good amount of “geaux Tigers” from the younger Ole Miss fans.
Davis Wade was like it always in. Not a ton of expectations so not a lot of let down but they left early and can blame them
Vaught, I’ve never been there for an Ole Miss win so this was a little different for me. I’m used to it being empty by the 4th. Ole Miss home of the Try Hards.

Glad you made it! Pontotoc was our bathroom break. Curious whether you made it to Vaught in time, given that you stayed to the end and stopped to eat. I'm sure I could have done better time-wise, but honestly surprised I pulled it off, given it was my first trip to Starkville.

My daughter (no pics) and I considered trying it but after sitting out there in the sun the whole game the only thing on my mind was a cool shower, fluid intake, the air conditioner, and my leather couch in front of the big screen.
We briely discussed it over the chicken livers we stopped off for at the Chevron station in West Point but quickly dismissed the idea.
I guess I’m not as young as I once was!
