We ran out of steam and depth. We ran into the #1 team with tons of depth and had some crazy plays go their way. We put up 560 yards and got to see a new QB get reps. We had another week of practice. This team And staff have seen it all. Now they can hit the portal and push some out and go get some new. It was such a valuable season. At one point we were thinking 6-6 which would have been important to get to a bowl for this extra practices. Now we got a extra week of practices, we played the best without having the best and we played ok. It’s tough when you can’t stop the run and can’t force turnovers. Georgia has 7 years of structure and program consistency. This is going to come together next year and in 2024 we will be all in the playoffs. Give House a chance with depth and better players and another offseason. Give Denbrock 1 more year with a offseason and better players. At least then these players are seeing the same coaches for 2 years and hearing the same things. I think it’s ok to play it safe and maybe more generic with these coordinates in 2023. These players have had 4 defensive coordinators in 4 years and 3 offensive coordinators in 3 years. They have a new coach with expectations and attention to detail and structure. You can always do worse with coordinators. Give everyone another offseason to work together. Go into the portal and get a RB, DLineman, and Secondary players. Then let’s see what this staff can do in 2023. Another 8 months of strength training to get us through the whole season and not just 9 games. We have some awesome freshman. We seem to have a great QB problem. Georgia’s best team in the history of their program has to get a lot of breaks and only beat us by 20. This was our worst SEC Championship team and they put gained Georgia. Our 2011 and 2019 teams beat top 10 Georgia teams by 32 and 27.
LSU started
RB Walk On
Safety Arkansas
CB Arkansas
CB Ok State
OLine FIU
CB ULL
QB Az State
DL Missouri
4 true freshman
We had a WR at qb in a bowl last year and lost by 21 to KState. Tenn and Georgia were big losses points wise but if we clean up some things you can see how we could hang in those games longer.
LSU had only scored 30 points or more on Alabama in Tiger Stadium twice 1946. (32) 2000 (31)
In 2021 LSU played 6 ranked teams with one being in the top 10.
In 2022 LSU played 4 racked teams (all in top 10)
When played.
LSU averaged 26 points per game in 2021
LSU gave up a avg of 26 points per game in 2021
LSU averages 32 points per game in 2022
LSU is giving up 23 points per game in 2022
+6 points on offense
-3 points on Defense
LSU Offense 2021 Avg 368 yards
LSU defense 2021 avg 378 yards
LSU offense 2022 avg 442 yards
LSU defense 2022 avg 361
+74 yards on offense
-17 yards on defense
Turnover diff 2021. -2
Turnover diff 2022. -1
Special teams - clearly a problem.
I am proud of the team and staff. It’s going to get better. It’s going to be more fun, we’re going to be in the hunt and we’re gonna be the team that leans on other teams in the 3rd quarter. So much will happen in the next 30 days and it’s going to be great for the future of LSU football.

We’re headed in the right direction. Special teams is scary and killed us in 3 of our losses to Georgia, Tenn, and FSU.

Well worth the read!!.
I’ll say 2024 is going to be a knockout year for LSU. Build up the trenches and getting a stud RB or two….all in!
