Just curious, for those of you who want WVU in the SEC, have you ever been to Morgantown and met their fans?

I actually used to kind of root for WVU as an underdog/upstart program, but one trip there changed my mind in a hurry. It is a trashy place with rude people. I've been to games at about ten campuses and theirs is by far the worst I've experienced. Many others who have actually been there say the same thing.

Adding WVU wouldn't be the end of the world, but it is a big step down for the SEC.

Good point about the traveling fanbase. I heard that they brought a lot of fans to Tiger Stadium last year and they do seem to be rabid in the football games and basket ball games that I have watched.

show me where i said they got told no. i simply posted what andy staples said. and being told not right now is pretty much being told go sit in the corner and we will call you if we need you.

and WVU is still a terrible choice for all the reasons I pointed out. You have no rebuttal for the facts i posted.

if this wasnt about $$ then sure bring in WVU but the fact is WVU is in a state with under 2 million people. SEC will go B1G model in the future with the network and having schools in populous states is very important. B1G gets .85 per subscriber for those in states with a B1G school and only .15 for the rest. Fact is WVU doesnt bring shite to the table from this angle.

Since they dont help in that regard the only other way they would help is if they could add enough national appeal to support themselves (20mil) and atleast make it worth while for existing schools for the additional travel cost(2 mill per).

Thats a total of 46 million for the current members just to break even. I dont believe WVU brings enough national appeal to up the contracts 46 million. And thats just to make existing schools break even. Do you really believe existing members are gonna vote to add a school just to break even? if so I have some property to sale you.

another auburn fan saying something negative about a trashy group of fans.

i'd prefer a group of down-home white trash who owns it than white trash dressed up in sperry's, kavu belts, and pearls.

pretentious barners.

per USAToday: WVU made a profit of 6 mil last year (One of only 22 schools nationally to bring a profit), Mizzou lost money

wtf does that have to do with my questions? you spent less then you took in....good for you, I would expect nothing less from a very very good AD in Luck.

still doesnt answer the question can WVU add 46 million to existing tv contracts? what makes you believe they could?

^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^

I actually thought the B10 fees were higher than this but I am not sure.
If we stop at 14 we really need to add a school that brings some tv sets!

Means very little in the long run. Being profitable for yourself doesn't make you profitable to a conference.

WVU is lucky to be in the Big East where they have low travel costs. They will have to pay much more to travel to SEC schools on a yearly basis. Their costs will go up and even though they make more money from TV contracts, their BCS cut will go down. Big East was making $17+ million to be split 10 ways. SEC was splitting 14 ways and now 14 ways.

WVU also placed 15th in collegiate apparel profits and the highest rated ever ESPN Thursday AND Friday games involve WVU. We do a good job drawing on tv, and travel as good/if not better than any team in the country. But I guess we are all just poor white trash. We are much more than just this state. We have a lot of alumni in the DC area, and hell half the South Carolina residents are from here or their family was. We would have a great rivalry with them, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Also, WVU is one of the few ooc schools that boasts an all time winning record against are friends from the SEC. This state BLEEDS for this team.. MIssouri could care less, they have the Chiefs and Rams to worry about. Heck, Chiefs may go 3 and 13 and still outdrew Mizzou.

I love going to Auburn for a game... especially when there's plenty of unused TP rolls left around town.

Whose talking about money, you were talking about rankings and CFB titles...nice change of subject.

...but I guess when you stink as a conference in basketball as a whole, those titles suddenly don't matter...until some SEC team goes on a run...then you'll be all bandwagon and jump on basketball like jock itch...just like baseball after 80's.
