Some slight disappointment at having to "settle" for South Carolina and Arkansas when names like Texas, A&M, Miami and Florida State had been bandied about for a while, but overall, a lot of excitement about the teams we did get and the new divisional format with a CG. We were the first to do it, and everyone was watching to see how it would work out. Unfortunately, LSU sucked at the time, so we weren't really a factor in the division races until years later.

Impossible to compare it to today and the internet age Hell, it's hard to tell in the internet age as you only hear the views of the most opinionated.
