...contingent on Texas joining the Pac-10? If so, Texas just screwed the Aggies again.

I'm wondering how real the SEC offer was, or if Slive used us to kill the Pac16 deal (props to him if he did).

is this guy someone special?

Hell no. We were rolling out the red carpet for them. We even said we would add A&M and no one else if need be.

Was there ever an official offer?

You guys have no clue what kind of stepping stone this was for the SEC.
Not only did we prevent the Pac 16, but A&M was ready to tell Texas to frick off... OU also strongly considered the SEC according to someone on the UT board of Regents.
This Expansion Fiasco has started a close relationship with OU and A&M. If something like this comes up again UT probably will not like the results.
In the end the group that this person was apart of won out... MANY from UT were against going to the Pac 10, and A&M strongly leaning to the SEC really hit Texas hard. It was a huge shot to their ego.

Big 10 is the winner of this round of Conference Expansion. SEC will need to be better prepared for the next round that is sure to come up. The Big 12 is done. This is kicking the can down the road imo.
SEC should be ready to offer Oklahoma, Oky St and AM a sweet arse deal next go round. I think the SEC learns details of the other conference offers and pounces next go round. Texas needs to be pulled into SEC by other Big 12 schools.
