UT President on radio now... Revenue Sharing comments, PAC-10, etc

He said there are "no guarantees" -- they will be distributing money in the Big 12 "according to the normal Big 12 distribution".
He said he's heard of financial "guarantee" discussions but Texas is opposed to that and was not a part of any guarantee discussions -- he only has reports of what the "estimates" of their conference is worth and will let the conference work through those numbers.
Won't comment on PAC-10 due to confidential considerations, other than to say they are good people.
Now head of women's sports is denying "guarantees" are in place...
Back to Powers: the decision is based on a multitude of considerations, but bottom line is "what is the most comfortable and best fit" for the U of Texas. Things mentioned include student-athlete lifestyle, tradition, revenue, history --- notably absent, ACADEMICS.

Powers did say several times that they were committed to a "long term, 10-team Big 12".
IOW, no TCU, no UH, etc. and they'll be looking for a long term TV deal so that the TV people can't get out of it when they realize the Big12 is a dog.

No new TV contracts as of yet all speculation on what we MIGHT be able to get. IMO this is a huge fail waiting to happen

From TexAgs.com:
WWL afraid FOX was going to get the PAC16 Deal and that could not happen

Bill Powers
* UT retains local rights as do all Big 12 schools. Knew Pac 10 would have wanted relegation of rights to conference and this was a factor. And this was considered but not the only issue.
DeLoss Dodds
* UT can now look at Longhorn channel again. Subject had been tabled for a time.
* Believes tv package will be as good as any other conference's.
* ABC has been very helpful yesterday and he feels good about the TV package.
* Monetary figures must be asked of TV networks and Dan Beebe.
