It has been stated that Texas will be joining the Pac 10 because of TV revenue. (Pac 10 will have own network) Why does the SEC not have it's own network? Don't say the SEC does it's called ESPN. When you look at conference TV revenue the Big 10 is #1 with their own network. How many years is the ESPN and CBS contract?

When they signed, it was 15 years. We are going into year 2 I believe (could be wrong on that). The threat of a separate SEC TV network is what won all that money from ESPN during the last negotiations. Without that threat, SEC makes a lot less money even if the SEC is the #1 football conference.

Mainly because few thought a network would be successful. There was a lot of *cough* *snicker* when the Big10 made the announcement. Two years later cable insiders are shocked it would be so successful so quickly. They took a gamble, had a good plan, and it paid off.
