Ole Clim and his girlfriend were making out in his pick up truck on Texas A&M's campus where they were both grad students. Clim's girlfriend screamed out in the heat of passion "OH CLIM!! KISS ME WHERE IT STINKS!" so ole Clim cranked up the truck and drove on down to Pasadena.

Everthing I've heard from SEC friends, SEC personalities(finebaum, some birmingham writer) states otherwise. The birmingham writer (dont know his name) stated the "85%" of SEC fans are against it.
This is B.S.
I would say 85% of sec fans are FOR it (or at least 85% of LSU fans are FOR it).
Can't wait for TAMU to join the SEC next year.

I imagine once you get past Arkansas and LSU the percentage of people for A&M drops drastically. For example, I have a lot of friends that are UGA fans and none of them want A&M. They all want an east coast school instead of expanding further west.

I think if I only read the first sentence of each paragraph, your post conveys the same message.

Eh, I'd like A&M and one East Coast School (not FSU).

I want A&M and Mizzou but I'm admittedly biased by Arkansas' location.

I'm a 20 year SEC fan and a nouveau-Traditionalist.
I like the SEC as it is.
I don't care about alleged recruiting advantages, or having a closer team to play. I like the 12-team SEC as it is.
This isn't a "try and see if you like it different" decision. Once the Aggies come, we're stuck with them for life. I don't want to risk ruining what we have, which is pretty damned awesome.

You may not know the "Bama fans" quite as well as you think you do. While I cannot speak for the Alabama fan base as a whole, I do have a reasonable insight as to how may of the old school alabama people might view aTm.
My view toward aTm is from a possition of respect. That respect is based on 3 people that do/did hold aTm in high esteem. I have met all 3 and view them as great men. I played for Coach Bryant and his opinion of Coach Stallings and John David Crow tell me everything I need to know about them.
I for one, hope this comes together and that we can welcome aTm to the SEC family. It does not hurt our fealings to see the BS arrogance of TU and the Big 12(-2-1)taking a hit because they are seeing themselves as what they are while looking at the power and prestige of the SEC.

Good post.
I'll address a couple of points...
Stick around. They don't call 'em "rantards" around here for nothing.
Meh, they also don't want [pick two]: Ole Miss, Vandy, State, Arky, USCe.
It's been 116 years and we've never hated Ole Miss more. That's besides the point, are they considered a bona fide SEC member yet? Not really - but the important thing is they ARE a member, maybe a small, stinky member, but a member nonetheless.
Dude, there are NO schools similar to A&M. But if you took the two you mentioned, State and Auburn, combined them and put their offspring on steroids for 100 years, it may start to smell something like A&M.
"Big 12, blah blah blah, Big 8 blah blah blah, SWC etc...", just don't bring that nasty shite on our boards.
My personal opinion is that I'm looking forward to having aggie around in the conference. It's a good school with old - if somewhat perverse - tradition. I'd also like to see FSU join in the East to balance it out.
The way I see it, A&M will ultimately benefit by taking Texas recruits away from UT, LSU and Ark that want to be in the SEC but stay in Texas. It may not be many from each, but they will be quality that you weren't getting before.
That is all.

I believe an instant connection can be made w/ Miss. State and Auburn, which are similar schools IMO

If it means we go to a 9 game conference schedule and drop a patsy game, then I'm for it.
If it means we stay at an 8 game conference schedule and lose a rotating game against the East teams, then I'm against it.

I want ya'll. I would love to see A&M and LSU play every year. I can't stand Texas A&M, so it would be good to have the rivalry back.
Most LSU fans could care less about Arkansas, so A&M would replace that fake rivalry. We really just don't care about Arkansas. They could beat us every year and I'd be upset we lost a game but could care less that it was to Arkansas. It might as well be Kentucky.
But, A&M is a team that I love to see LSU beat.

I'd love to see LSU vs aTm every year. Bout the Arkansas thing I wonder how LSU fans in Shreveport and North Louisiana feel about Arkansas. I'm sure they love the rivalry.

Actually some of the stuff on that board is comical gold.
LSU will always be a forced rivalry to me, I never really got to see the Arky/shorthorns rivalry in person but just the amount of hate my dad has for them makes me hate them.
(And the fact that I have a few good friends that moved up here after Katrina from SELA makes the LSU game much less of a rivalry game cause I pull for them any time they don't play us)
