LSU Chancellor Martin said he sees the addition of Texas A&M to the Southeastern Conference as the restoration of a natural rivalry with LSU, even if it means LSU will no longer play Florida every year in football
LSU keeps indicating Fla game is pretty much done but Bama keeps insisting on keeping game with Tenn

The SEC has had some pretty screwy moves in scheduling formats and choices over the years, but sometimes they actually make a good move. Instituting a set rotation for non-perennial matchups in the 1970s, going to 7 SEC games in 1988, and switching to the 5-1-2 format in 2002 were examples of moves that made sense. Using a 5-2-1 format from 1992-2001 and insisting on maintaining traditional rivalries while putting said rivals in different divisions are examples of moves that made no sense.
SEC administrators are nothing if not unpredictable when it comes to conference scheduling. We could wind up with something that is very good, or we could just as easily wind up with the most convoluted abortion of a schedule you could imagine.

Bama just wants to keep UT...so send them to the east, and give us Vanderbilt. That way the West is LSU & Co.

We would be in the SEC title game every other year at a minimum.

keeping Florida (ie, a tough opponent) should be important to LSU. It helps with SOS.
