I was reading on ESPN how TCU was contacted by the SEC but wanted to join the Big12 instead. I personally love what Missouri does for Arkansas and Arkansas only. It puts 7 SEC Campuses within 350 miles of Little Rock. We have a better football program than Missouri and much closer to the Texas Talent. Fayetteville much closer to the Middle of the SEC west instead of the former most western team.

Now, with all of that said, which helps Arkansas, I think it's a look warm feel for the entire SEC. The Big12 looks to be adding TCU (done), BYU, West Virginia and possibly Lousiville. Honestly, that is a solid pick up and keeps the majority of kids growing up Big12 fans than SEC fans.

Having TAMU in the SEC helps the western teams recruit the SEC but it won't be such a large impact as previous thought because another brand Texas team got a Big12 invite.

It seems like outside of TAMU we've been having trouble with the 14th team.
West Virginia seems to be the bullseye for the Big12 if Missouri leaves.

quote:

"West Virginia has better football than Missouri, better basketball than Missouri, a better budget than Missouri and more passion among its fans than Missouri. They're better, anyway you turn 'em. The travel's not good but that's it."

Arkansas is a large winner with the TAMU and Missouri additions of the SEC. The SEC itself is a win but not a homerun in my opinion. On thing is almost certain now.... We won't be expanding to 16 teams because no one will be left to take.

Mizzou being 'chosen' is all about $$$$$$$. It's potential TV sets and neither TCU or WVU add much. I agree WVU is better in almost all regards but this isn't about that. I still have serious doubts about TCU even being considered by the SEC. It's possible I guess but if TCU really wanted better things for their program, being Bevo's bitch isn't the way to go.

Here is the question... Is breaking up the Texas TV market (TCU and TAMU) better than the ole Missouri market?

TCU is very smart to head to the Big12 over the SEC. They sit smack dab in the middel of the Big12 and all those recruits. If you bring in a BYU, WVU or Louisville they are in a fantastic setting for success.

The SEC's biggest problem is how strong the conference is which can work against us.

But it shouldn't be about "that" ($$$). It should be about who brings the best football and fanbase with them. WVU does. Mizzou doesn't. Don't sell out the SEC for some bucks, Slive. Go for the product. WVU has it!

TCU adds nothing in the way of viewers. I don't care that they are in the middle of the Metroplex - no one goes out of their way to watch TCU football. I don't know if this is EsipN and their PR machine trying to make the SEC look bad in a way. If this is true, there will be more come out and not from EsipN. A&M would have been contacted I believe and asked about adding TCU IF it's true.

Arky will be fine in all of this. Recruiting it will help and I believe it doesn't matter if it improves Louisville or WVU's recruiting. A recruit will choose the chance to play in the SEC than in Bevo X. For those other teams, I think all of dilutes their options. The SEC brand is strong.

If you honestly think TCU was invited, I have some Nigerian friend you might want to invest your money with.

Didn't read the story. ESPN has no business reporting on an issue they are so deeply involved with.

I've got nothing against TCU. In fact, I am convinced that they have the highest number of smoking hot coeds per capita of any school in the US. That having been said, it's a small private school with about 9,000 students.

In terms of delivering televisions, they would be a boost in the areas of Fort Worth within one mile of their campus.

I've been waiting for FOX or CBS to get their act together and form a show to rival ESPN.

TCU is a name brand compared to Texas Tech, Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas in football maybe better than Kansas State.

TCU is a solid addition and if they add BYU, WVU and Louisville the Big12 is a solid conference once again.

Way to much talent for the Big12 South not be good every year.

If you think the Big 12 is so great, maybe Arkansas should have accepted their invite a few months ago

When did I say it was great?

It will be a solid conference in the future because of all the talent in Texas alone. BYU has a large fan base and WVU is as passionate about football as any SEC team.

Colorado, Nebraska and Texas A&M (former) 11 years (3 BCS Bowls)

TCU, BYU, WVU (New) 11 years (4 BCS bowls)

Basically, after all the shuffling the Big12 is exactly as it used to be.

Why do you not think Arkansas is a large winner in this conference realignment?

TCU, BYU, WVU were in crap conferences, and had a MUCH easier road than any old-Big 12 or current SEC team does to a BCS game.

Arkansas, for example, would have likely been to several BCS bowls in the last 10 years had they been in the MWC or Big East.

It counts when you beat teams from non crap conferences in BCS bowls.

Literally, the Big12 just restored it'self if all these teams jump on board with that conference. Which is pretty obvious even if you are an Aggie fan.

You're right, some seasons it could be as high as the 2nd best football conference with those teams added....I just don't think TCU and WVU will win 9-10 games in the Big 12 anytime soon.

Time will tell.

I'm not saying they come in and dominate or contend yearly.. but TCU can accomplish exactly what OSU or Kansas State is doing at the moment. WVU will be interesting just for the depth alone. They will pack the stadium when Texas and OU come to town.
