Tech has the most potential of all the other state schools besides LSU but they may pissed away too much time. Their current President does not care about sports and as well as he has done getting Tech to Tier 1 he has really let the school down in sports.
As far as the clown complaining about tax payer dollars to Tech you could pick any other school in Louisiana and find far bigger wastes of money

I can give a crap what UL fans have to say about Tech....Sure they're having a great season (in the freakin SunBelt),they have a new coach & the attendance is up slightly, probably due to beer sales at stadium....Congrats! But Tech is simply in a different league on many levels., especially talent wise...they shoulda beat Miss St in overtime & went toe to toe with 2 top tier Conference USA schools this season......I think ULah Lah peeps are still upset that they didn't get invited to play Tech in Indy bowl a couple years ago.....

See this link to the most recent state auditor's report of La Tech athletics:
State Auditor's Report on La Tech Athletics - Feb 2010
A few numbers:
Football ticket sales = $1.4 million
All sports ticket sales (including football) = $1.6 million
Direct Institutional Support (taxpayer subsidy) = $6.4 million (40% of reported $16 million revenues)
I've never understood how a funds transfer can be classified as revenues.
FWIW, ULL's direct institutional support is even higher.
