Texas fans:

If/when OU/OSU/aTm leave, do you think Texas tries to build the Big 12 back up as the only remaining major football school in the conference, go independent, or go to the Big Ten/Pac 12?

Personally, I think UT would love the idea of a 10 team Big 12 with Texas and a bunch of smaller schools bowing to them for the money they need, but there would be a serious legitimacy and perception issue with Texas remaining. Texas may only care what Texans think, but if they want spots in national title games, they can't play a Big East schedule. Voters like underdogs like Boise with shitty schedules, but they will hate a power like Texas who chooses to play a Boise schedule.

I think more than anything Texas would like an 8 team conference so they can maximize the number of non conference games. Then they could put 2 or 3 non conference games on their network and start preparing for Independence with their scheduling.

Texas will not remain in the Big 12 without A&M, OU, and OSU. If OU stays, Texas would likely try to rebuild the conference with additions like BYU.

Otherwise, Texas will go independent or joining the Pac 12 or more likely the B1G. The revenue Texas receives from the LHN would then be deducted from the conference money paid out from either conference to keep it without everyone else from whining about it.
