College football is changed.
I see it on the message boards.
I hear it on the talk shows.
I feel it on college game day.
Much that once was, is lost, for few now live who remember it.
It began with the forging of the Southwest Conference members. One was given to the Razorbacks, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Two to the Okies, great sportsmen and competitors of the Oklahoma plains. And eight, eight memberships were gifted to the race of Texans, who, above all else, desire power.
But they were, all of them, deceived, for another alliance was made. In the land of Austin, only blocks from the Texas State Capitol, the Dark Lord Bevo forged, in secret, a master conference membership, to control all others. And into this conference he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all college sports.
One Steer to Rule Them All.
One by one, the free teams of the Southwest Conference fell to the power of the Bevo. The Okies left. Other Texans joined. But all were powerless against the evil of the Bevo.
But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of Texans and Razorbacks marched against the power of Bevo, and on the grassy field of the Cotton Bowl, year after year; they fought for the freedom of the Southwest Conference. Victory was very near, but the power of the Bevo could not be undone. It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that Frank Brolyes, Arkansas’ Athletic Director, decided to leave the Southwest Conference for the Southeastern Conference. And the Bevo, enemy of the free teams of the Southwest Conference, was defeated. The conference passed on to just the Texans, who had this one chance to destroy the evil forever, but the hearts of Texans are easily corrupted. And the Bevo has a will of its own. He betrayed the conference, to its death. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost.
History became legend. Legend became myth. And for eighteen years, the Southwest Conference passed out of all knowledge.
Until, when chance came, Bevo ensnared a new conference. The Bevo came to the creature the Big 12, and controlled them on the great plains of middle America, and totally consumed them. The Bevo gave to the Big 12 unnatural long life. For 18 years Bevo poisoned their mind with championship dreams and money; and in the gloom of Austin Texas, the Bevo waited. Darkness crept back into the college football world as Bevo won another Championship. Rumor grew of a dark network, whispers of a persistent arrogance, and the Bevo perceived.
Its time had now come.
The Bevo started its own Longhorn network.
But then something happened that Bevo did not intend.
An Aggie.
A most loyal and rich creature was totally ticked off. The Aggie left the Bevo and the Big 12 and was picked up by the most unlikely conference imaginable. The Southeastern Conference, the most dominating college football conference in the world.
For the time will soon come when the Texas A&M Aggies will shape the fortunes of all.
