Doh! I meant change the divisions not the conference. I was writing that while watching the Chiefs WIN!
So, now, instead of invitations to suicide (kinda harsh, dude)consider a rearrangement of the DIVISIONS of the SEC each year in a way that would maintain balance in the level of competition while still keeping old rivalries and considering geography as much as possible.
It's a little out of the box, but it doesn't take much imagination when your goal is the best football experience every year.

I actually really like the idea of some sort of "class system" based on previous years record. You could even have a champions league. Would take some hashing out, but i think it could work.
Side not: so according to that map. Miss is the only state without a black bear population surrounded by states with one? thats pretty funny.

Home and home series-es kill this idea.

How bout Tenn., aTm , & Mizzu to the West and Bama & AU to the East.

I say call them the LAMMATA and GFKSTMV divisions, for obvious reasons. Doesn't matter that the latter can't be pronounced by humans.

dont let Bama govern the SEC.
Missouri goes to the west.
bama and Aubie go to the east.
Vandy goes to the west.
7 western-most teams in the west.
7 eastern-most teams in the east.
Bama would play UTk every year. Bama would still play Aubie every year.
LSU can alternate Bama AND Florida every OTHER year as their TWO semi-perma-rivals and no one can complain that the west is too easy.

Have the NCAA change their rule to allow no divisions and still have a Conference Title game between the top 2 teams. Makes it much easier for scheduling and keep it to just 8 conference games.
Provided that Mizzou joins, assign each school 3 permanent opponents, then you play 5 of the other 10 teams for 2 years, then switch to the other 5 for 2 years. Much more balanced than now and allows you to play all teams at least twice every 4 years. As opposed to now where you only play some of the schools twice over 6 years. This keeps all the major and historical rivalries.
Example permanent opponents below (with historical or geographical must-rivalry games in bold). Florida's opponents are weak overall, but this is just a quick example.
