I think it will be BYU taking A&M's place

They are already independant in football, makes for an easy addition. Utah has already shown signs in basketball and football recruiting that being in the Pac 10 will benefit them over BYU, so they need to make a move. I think BYU to the Big 12 is a pretty good save when they lose A&M.

I think it is a weak save...aTm dismantled Ty Detmer years ago if memory serves well. Heck, you can't even tailgate/drink at BYU, can you?

Yeah, I don't know who would want to travel there.

I've heard a lot of horn fans talking about BYU and ND joining the conference. What I think is going to happen is ND and BYU getting permanent games with texas, but I don't see either one joining.
BYU just went independent for a reason.
“It feels good to be independent,” Holmoe said. “It’s nice to be able to have the freedom to do the things you think you can to do to improve your program and you’re limited in a conference.”
“When you have a wide-open schedule you can get better teams,” he said.
And that's the biggest rub. Why on God's earth would they want to join and play the likes of KSU, KU, ISU, BU every year? Blech. Being independent, they can schedule games like ND does, playing all over the country in front of Mormons everywhere.

That was only 2 decades ago. ;)
Yeah, he got smacked around a bit in that bowl game.

Interestingly, Houston and BYU just announced a home and home for '13 and '14. BYU obviously has an interest in Texas markets.

Because Utah left them for the Pac12 - no other reason. Had Utah stayed with them in the MWC, BYU would have stayed as well. As it is, they couldn't let their arch rival show them up and leave for a BCS conference and leave them with nothing. They did it to placate their persecution complex (which pairs oddly with their superiority complex...).
No one really wants BYU in their conference, because they are just like Texas in that they feel all of their demands should be met. They think their shite don't stink. Oh, and their accademic accreditation is horrible IMO.
I guess I could have just summed all this up by saying "frick BYU I HOPE THEY ROT IN MEDIOCRITY"....

Texas is on crack if they think ND would deign to join the Big 12.

If ND won't join the big 10, they would never even consider the big 12.
