but why the flying frick does the SEC HAVE to go to 16 teams if another conference does??
It doesn't, but it subject has been discussed for years now and if PAC 12 does it, which it probably will, and while other conferences are being disturbed and juggling teams, SEC is forward thinking enough to get the best up front before all the package deals start formulating?
Make sense?

Bigger question is who the west will loose if it's not an east coast college, Auburn or bama, to even up divisions.
move bama and AU eat and vandy west
then you can kill then fixed east/west games since Tenn/auburn and au/UGA will play inter east every year
then you can add in someone from the west

I want neither. Both are too fricking far away.

I hear you. I don't see many SEC fans making the trek to WV and I don't see many WV fans traveling. And Missouri is way up in the midwest.
But these are the choices we have. We will not take an ACC team.

So far, it appears that posters are split among three categories:
8 votes for Missouri
9 votes for West Virginia
9 votes for none.

but Mizzou has a much better reputation for academics.
I really don't see this as a very high consideration. It's also a reason UNC, UVA and Maryland would never consider the SEC. I believe conferences that tout their academics are fooling themselves. It's about the money and athletics.

My preference would be neither of those two schools. If I had to pick one, I would reluctantly take Missouri.
Missouri opens up better markets for both television and recruiting (although I agree that their market penetration is not great). West Virginia just brings nothing to the table. WV is a sparsely populated poor state.
Neither is a good fit culturally.
Missouri would be a middle of the road SEC team academically, whereas WVU would be the worst school in the SEC.
