If I were a Texas voter I would not even consider re-electing this buffoon who wants to wiegh an entire college and whats best for it against whats best for his political aspirations. Talk about your typical pompus Texas wind bags.

Kirk Bohls is incorrect. Gov. Perry has gone on record, stating he'll not intervene.

Other politicians, however, are beginning to make their feelings public: U.S. Rep. and A&M alum Barton sees SEC as best Aggie fit

Well that's a relief.... clearly his intentions would have been to improve his standings in the elections

He's certainly the first politician to take his political aspirations into account when making a decision.

What does Lt. Gov. Dewhurst think?

He is a Univ. of Arizona grad who is a native Texan.

Is he a Pac-Teen fan?

Dewhurst hasn't said anything publicly.

FYI ... Joe Straus, Speaker of the Texas House, is a Vanderbilt grad. These comparisons can go on all day. I think ultimately, assuming offers are on the table from both the Pac-10 and SEC (insider sources indicate that's the case) I think the decision will be made by Texas A&M's Board of Regents.

A look at their university affiliations:

Bill Jones (A&M) *Baylor Law School

James Wilson (A&M)

Morris Foster (A&M)

Ida Steen (Trinity U)

Richard Box (A&M) *UT Dental School

Phil Adams (A&M)

Gene Stallings (A&M) *Played for Bear Bryant at A&M; Coached at Alabama

Jim Scwertner (Texas Tech)

Lupe Fraga (A&M)

OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE WITH AGGIE TIES

Rick Perry, Governor (A&M) *Was A Member of the Corps and Yell Leader*

Jerry Patterson, Texas Land Commissioner (A&M)

Todd Staples, Texas Agriculture Commissioner (A&M)

Bowen Loftin, A&M President (A&M) *Rice for PHD *

Mike Sherman, Football coach (Central Connecticut)

Bill Byrne, Athletic Director (Idaho State) *Son is AD at Arizona and he was an Oregon AD*

Steve Ogden, Senator 5th Texas District (Navy, A&M for Grad) *Represents Senate ditrict that A&M is in.

Jeff Wentworth, Senator 25th Texas District (A&M, Tech for Grad) * represents district that Austin is in.

Come on fellas, Kirk bouls, chip brown and jeff ketchum who all 3 are Texas blow hards are reporting this........all 3 of which are longhorn whipping boys. The fact that people continue to take what these guys say as gospel amazes me.

Govenor Perry said last night on the Austin news that he is staying as far away from this from this entire situation as possible.... And where all these rumors that he is blocking this move to the sec is absurd.

How the he'll would Kirk bohls know what a&m officals were thinking anyways? Answer is they wouldn't and they don't

I think the percentages of TAMU to the SEC are very very high at this time. But UT always has to one up TAMU and we'll have to wait and see what they try to do to blackmail TAMU into doing their bidding.

I think Bohls' point is that despite what Perry said, he's got no intention of letting his wishes go unheard behind closed doors, and that he's got lots of pull.

“Anybody who thinks Rick Perry is not going to sign off on the final decision is fooling himself,” one of the sources said. “A&M will go where the governor wants them to go.”
The second source said Perry, a former Texas A&M yell leader, does not want to do anything to disrupt his re-election plans and consequently might try to push the Aggies toward the Pac-10 to calm the political waters. Perry has said he’d prefer to keep all the Texas schools together.
“Perry’s political team has told him that the one thing that could beat him (in the November election) is to get involved in a football fight,” the long-time political observer in Austin said Saturday. “He doesn’t want to tick off Texas Tech and the Longhorns. The least amount of political downside is for A&M to join the Pac-10.”

Gosh, Governor Perry would put his political career ahead of what is best for Texas A&M?

I was out of the country in Haiti for two months!

What is Perry's political problem? TX is solid for the GOP.

You will probably tell me that Obama got health care bill passed.

Perry doesn't have a political problem; in fact, his star is very much on the rise.
