TCU stadium expansion will be complete this year. Phase 2 is planed. Big12 will expedite schedule.

Amon Carter isn't being expanded. It was basically demolished at the end of last season and rebuilt. The new capacity is a little lower than the old one. It used to seat 44k+ now it's 40k+

That's nothing to be ashamed of. TCU only has 9,000 students.

Problem with your theory:

If TCU is presently selling out, having TX, OK...etc. won't change those numbers...not unless they have inflatable bleachers

There is no problem with my theory. I was not saying that TCU's attendance would increase with the Big 12. Only that Baylor's is artificially inflated because of the Big 12. If Baylor had been playing in the Mountain West, their attendance would likely be half of what it is now.

But this is a silly discussion, because attendance only matters to the home team. It has no affect on conference dollars.

Tier 2? How old are you? Nebraska is as big a football power as any of those schools, and bigger than some. It's all cyclical. In the 1990s, LSU, USC and Texas were down and Nebraska was on top. USC will soon be back in a down cycle and Ohio State may be as well. Michigan has been in one for year.

That's a fact!!!
This is why ole time LSU fans keep saying: "Enjoy it while it last!!!!".

Most elite football talent (top 300 recruits each year) originates in CA, FL, TX and then some from the rest of the Deep South and some from OH & PA. It's an issue of demographics.

Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame and possibly even Tennessee will struggle to be consistently elite going forward due to said athletes staying closer to home as opposed to back in the 80s. Even good/decent coaching hires are struggling to bring them back.

maybe you meant the 90s (or at least I hope so) considering the teams you mentioned won about half of the national championships in the 90s

Yes recruiting is an issue but the bigger problems for those programs in the last 12 plus seasons has been a fall off at the head coaching position

NWASooner over on Hogville makes a valid point.

TCU comes right in to the middle of the pack of the Big12 which is a solid addition and is marketable team.

They packed out the Rose Bowl last year. They are doing everything to minimize the new SEC presence in Texas. They want to keep the vast majority of Texas kids Big12 kids.

Nebraska's problems have stemmed from poor coaching hires, not their recruiting base. Nebraska's recruiting base is no different than it was 25 years ago. They recruit nationally, as does Michigan, Notre Dame, etc. Both of them have been the victims of poor coaching hires as well. Ohio State has been untouched by this recruiting phenomenon you speak of.

You are correct -- for today. Things change quick. For a 50-100 year commitment, who would you pick?

TCU - 42,466
Louisville - 50,648

What you're failing to mention though is that for at least Louisville, there is a great chance these numbers will go up. They are averaging 50,000 playing in first CUSA and now a shitty BE which to me is impressive.

Increased competition and name teams means more buts in the seats. Razorback Stadium only sat 55,000 when we moved to the SEC but the move to the big time increased demand for the product and we had expanded to almost 75,000 within 8 years.

They have averaged about 30,000 this season. Last season it was Strong's first year and there was a lot of hype. They also did well the few years Petrino was there, but they have historically had very bad attendance and that trend seems to be continuing.

TCU has lost to Baylor and SMU this season... I don't think anyone in the Nation thinks about them anymore.

TCU lost a ton of players including 5 to the NFL and now has a team made of a majority of freshmen and sophomores. Baylor and SMU are upperclass-laden teams, and Baylor has their best team in decades for sure and SMU might have their beat team since the death penalty (we'll see when they start playing their conference schedule). TCU also has their worst team in 7 years, but is putting playing time in the bank by getting underclassmen lots of minutes and that will pay dividends in the coming years. With all that being the case, SMU still needed awful officiating and 14 points off of phantom PI calls and roughing the passer calls, and TCU forged huge comebacks to nearly win both games.

If you think this season is a harbinger of things to come for TCU, you're off base. Nobody survives losing as many seniors as we did, and even with that many losses our offense isn't playing poorly, but rather our brand new secondary is getting roasted all day long.

Yes, and A&M will eventually dominate the SEC.
