A&M fans, you have to remember, this is a 100 year decision and TCU and Louisville are more than capable of growing their programs and updating their facilities off the potential money influx into their program

100 year decision and TCU and Louisville
I believe the SEC, Pac, Big 10 and maybe ACC are making 100 year decisions. TCU and Louisville have been in a combined 10 conferences in the last 15 years or so. TCU just quit a conference before they ever joined. I'm not convinced either of these schools could make a 2 year commitment.

If conference affiliation is a "100 year decision", TCU has made five of them in fifteen years.
Slow down a little!

It's a 100-year decision for the SEC.

which explains why we let a couple schools hang around - you pretty much have to hang yourself like Ga Tech or Tulane

You have to have your Vandy and Ole Miss type schools. You can't have a conference of 12 alpha males. The SEC understands this, as does the Big 10.

That's true. There have been no major players switch conferences, yet.

Nebraska says hello. And if you want to debate whether Nebraska is a major player, don't.

Nebraska is a solid tier 2 program, but they are not among the big boys. I'm talking LSU, Florida, Alabama, USC, Texas, OU, Ohio State, Michigan. If any of those teams move conferences, it will be a big deal.

It goes in cycles....if LSU would have switched in 1994 or 1995, it would be like Nebraska or A&M switching today.

Disagree
Nebraska is a football power in every sense IMO
Maybe they are outclassed in terms of media attention by Notre Dame and Texas but that is about it

TCU has a nice football program. That's it. Small fanbase, no other programs of note (although baseball has been good the last few years).
A&M has a larger base, quality football, basketball, baseball, and track. Plus, they have the Houston market. It's not even close.

You are right, they do grab attention in the Houston market. Unfortunately, it's mostly just people making fun of them.

Also, schools like Baylor have their home attendance inflated from home games against Texas, Oklahoma, A&M, etc. TCU hasn't had the luxury of playing those teams. Their numbers are generated against a much shittier schedule.
Problem with your theory:
If TCU is presently selling out, having TX, OK...etc. won't change those numbers...not unless they have inflatable bleachers.

Even on Texas-OU weekend......you are discussing A&M on an SEC message board. Speaks volumes.

TCU stadium expansion will be complete this year. Phase 2 is planed. Big12 will expedite schedule.

Here is a list of national titles. It's easy to think that because the SEC is the best conference in the country that it has always been. Historically, that's only really true for Alabama.
A lot of schools claim national titles from way back when before there were really rules in place for making the claim. These were compiled using polls from the Associated Press, United Press International, Football Writers Association of America, National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame, USA Today/CNN or USA Today/ESPN. Also, the NCAA recognizes the "Dickinson System" for determining the MNC between 1926 and 1940 so those are counted as well.
With all of that said, here are the numbers.
USC - 9
Alabama - 8
Oklahoma - 7
Ohio State - 7
Nebraska - 5
Michigan - 5
Texas - 4
LSU - 3
Florida - 3

This is actually the Conference Expansion board and the thread is titled "Big 12 - Options and numbers".
Poor poor aggie.

Tier 2? How old are you? Nebraska is as big a football power as any of those schools, and bigger than some. It's all cyclical. In the 1990s, LSU, USC and Texas were down and Nebraska was on top. USC will soon be back in a down cycle and Ohio State may be as well. Michigan has been in one for year.
Nebraska has few peers in college football. They brought 30,000 fans to Madison for the Wisconsin game. Not all had tickets. They had 20,000 requests for their 3,000 allotment.
They were in the Big 12 championship game two years ago and almost won, despite being in a down cycle with a new coach.
