Buyouts for cancellation/early termination of said contract are negotiated into employment contracts to protect the employee/contractor.

No shite

You had better believe that if I have contracted my services to a single entity for a stated period of time and have cut off other avenues of earning income, I would need to protect myself from loss of income if the entity decided to terminate the contract early.

No shite

Literally, no one in the country would hire O as their head coach. No reason for him to have such a large buyout

Has absolutely no bearing on the employment contract negotiated and signed by and between LSU and O. This is just O's protection from early termination of the contract by LSU.

No---we all know huge buyouts are put into place to prevent successful coaches from being poached---O had no leverage for a pay raise or such a huge buyout
